Podcast Episodi #9 Si të *mos* bësh klientë? Miqesisht, Elida

I talk about a real-life story from the marketplace when the clients are abundant but the business falls short. With the eyes of a client perceiving the (missing) customer service and the experience from the work with our clients, I go into another A.C.T-ing process with some how to’s to help small business owners and their staff prepare not only to have a blast high season but success during all the year.

The key is the leaders’ training!

There are two skill sets that an owner of a small business should have, the set of the specific business expertise  of the business  he/she has built (in the case of the story of the podcast, that of IT services): but the set of people skills is of paramount value too, especially in businesses where the interaction with the clients is very important.

What seem to kill the businesses during seasonal “client overabundance”  are the following:

  • The lack of the business development plan for the whole year (diversifying products during “low” seasons),
  • The lack of  a  standardized customer service plan with a smooth and simple procedure (serving  to all and simultaneously and with the same quality)
  • The lack of  a set of established declared values that should characterize a business of this type, where the interactions between the seller/buyer are very high
  •  and lastly, overloading and “work overdosing” on the part of the owners (absence or free or recreational hours) that kills the well-being of the employee and the owner himself

Here is some advice for the owners and managers of these small businesses:
• Get hold of your business! Ask for help, if need be, to plan a strategy (with smart goals, days and dates connected with precise figures and responsible persons) what will happen for the (full) upcoming year
• Go through the figures of the past years (if any), trying to understand when was the high peak of days and hours in the high season and what brought you most of the revenue
• Outline a standard procedure for customer care  (the welcoming,  the waiting area, rules, and roles of all the full staff or part-time staff. Try this out. Give it a dry run. Improve the procedure. keep repeating.
• Determine what is allowed and what’s not in your store (here comes in use the word ” do to others what you would like to be done onto you”  for example, would you like to be talked of behind your back when you leave a shop? Make it a law and apply at all times. The others will follow.
• Follow up on your business sector news and try to apply what you can. The phrase “we do not have this service”, should be replaced with “Can we have another meeting where I can give you what we can do for your request”
Sharing these thoughts, I still think that we should all coordinate our initiatives to bring about change among these very important group of people.  Meanwhile, on October 12, we start a 6-month course for business leaders and business owners with a 4 hour Saturday meeting (group-seminar with network-building, meeting and partnerships and fun activities) and three individual online Saturday meetings.

Të tjerët do tju ndjekin.
